Top Ten Tuesday: Books I wish would be TV Shows

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, you can find more about it here.

For this post, I decided to make a list of book series that I would like to see be made into TV shows. There are books that just don’t make good movies but would be awesome as TV shows. Other books are already movies but a TV show would allow for more exploration. Okay, let’s get to it!

The List

  1. harry-potter-audio-book-freeThe Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
    • Harry Potter is arguably the most popular children’s book series. While I grew up watching the movies and reading the books, I have always liked the idea of it becoming a tv show. A lot of things could be explored and who wouldn’t love to watch their favorite stories and characters on their tv every week for a few months. I do believe that for it to be properly made it would need a Game of Thrones budget, but it should be popular enough to get it. Maybe some primetime network would be willing to do a children’s story.
  2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
    • This series got treated very badly by the movie industry. Thespercyjackson-and-olympianse books are fun and entertaining, I don’t why the people behind the movies tossed the story out the window. It features some amazing characters as well as awesome adventures. If this were to be a tv show it should have actors that are the proper age. I felt that some of the story’s magic was lost because the characters were aged so much. The books aren’t too long and like I said they are super fun to read. The characters are really funny and the adventures are pretty cool. Also, these books have enough fan following that the show wouldn’t go unwatched. Overall, this story could be better portrayed in small screen. I think Netflix would be a good platform for it. More things could be explored and the characters (if done correctly) could be amazing.
  3. Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan
    • This could be made as a spinoff to the Percy Jackson series. It follows familiar as well as new characters and the characters are in
their late teens. As with the Percy Jackson books these are full of fun adventures. It also centers around more than just one character and you get to follow them through crazy journeys. I wouldn’t want this series to get the same treatment as the Percy Jackson one so I think a tv show would be better.
  4. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clareinfernal-devices-covers1.png
    • This series is a sister series to The Mortal Instruments, which has already been turned into a tv show. The trilogy is set in the 1800s so we would get to see some awesome period costuming. It’s also primarily set  in London and follows a warlock, Tessa, who can shape shift. There’s also demon hunting, romance, and friendship. These books are filled with awesome characters and humor. The series is kind of steampunk which is so cool to experience. The pace of the first book is a bit slow but I think it would transfer nicely to television. I don’t think that it would fit very well with Freeform, but who knows?
  5. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
    • This is one of my favorite YA series and it is a retelling of different well-known fairy tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow white. Yet, the stories are set in the future and focuProcessed with VSCO with c2 presets on the evasion of war between earth and the moon (doesn’t that sound cool?) I think there is a lot of material in these books for it to be turned into a tv show. It has romance, friendship, and it’s filled with awesome adventures. The opportunity see some of their childhood favorites would appeal to a lot of people, and not to mention the huge following that this series already has. It would be amazing to get to see some of my favorite characters on the tv, especially Cress and Thorne. I don’t what network would be interested in this, maybe FOX or ABIMG_0031.JPGC.
  6. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
    • Another one of my favorites! This series focuses on a group of teens that go in search of a Welsh king. This is a story full of magic, love, and friendship (do you see a trend?) I love how the friendship works in this series. They all love each so much, I would like seeing that portrayed on tv. Also, I would love to see the characters being brought to life this way as well as their world, which is full of magnificent happenings. These books aren’t super fast-paced but I think that is fine, there are other things that make up for it. I’m pretty sure the CW would pick this up.
  7. Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J Maas Processed with VSCO with c2 preset
    • This series would be amazing as a tv show! I’m pretty sure my loved ones are sick of me saying this. If you aren’t familiar with this series then it follows a teenage girl as she uncovers some truths about her world as well as herself. The books are filled with so many amazing characters. Could this become teenage Game of Thrones? Netflix hook it up! If this were to be a tv show it would have a huge fan following. The world it takes place is rich and the storytelling as well. Such an entertaining series with twists and turns, it would definitely have viewers on edge. IMG_0032.JPG
  8. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
    • A series inspired by the Roman empire and mixed with some paranormal. It follows Elias and Laia as the uncover the truth about their world and fight for it. Amazing world building as well as characters. This story is brutal and enchanting. The characters are amazing as well! There’s some romance but it isn’t the main focus. The second book in this series was recently published. I think Freeform or the CW would be a good fit for it.
  9. The Mara Dyer Trilogy by Michelle Hodkin
    • Such a good trilogy! This story centers on Mara who discovers she has an ability after a fatal accident involving her friends. The romanscreen-shot-2014-11-16-at-3-39-53-pmce and the dialogue in this book are absolutely amazing. The story has a mysterious aura that I love, it’s pretty ominous. I would love for Mara and Noah to come to life on a screen. Maybe FX would pick it up. Even though the characters are teens, it would appeal to others as well. However, it isn’t very family friendly so that’s why I suggested FX.
  10. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard22328546
    • A society divided by their blood color. A girl from the lesser class who possesses the ability of those in the upper class. This book is full of twists and turns. It’s full of action and drama. The book is very fast paced and deals with discrimination and finding oneself. Topics teenagers encounter nowadays. I haven’t read the second book but I’m pretty sure it’s as action-packed as the first one. I think Freeform or the CW are likely to make a show out of this.

Well those are Top Ten book series I would like to see get their own tv show. I hope you enjoyed this post!
